Having begun his career as a police officer for the City of Gatineau in 1996, Hugo Girard is now a speaker and spokesperson for several companies. A fitness coach and host of TV shows such as Les rénos d’Hugo, 321 BBQ and À vos risques et périls, Hugo Girard is a former strength athlete, bodybuilder and strongman championship organizer. Hugo owns several businesses, including his workwear brand, Hugo Strong, and AMQ Première.
A native of Portneuf-sur-Mer on Quebec’s North Shore, he began training at the age of 5, and by 12 was already determined to become the strongest man in the world. In 2022, he achieved this feat by winning the IFSA SuperSeries World Championship title. He was Canadian champion of his sport from 1995 to 2004 and North American champion from 2001 to 2002. One of his most remarkable feats was to pull an 80-ton Boeing 737 100 feet in 43 seconds.
For more than 10 years, he took part in numerous strongman competitions on the international circuit, winning several titles in the process:
- 6 times IFSA Super Series 2002 strongest man in the world.
- 6 times Canada’s strongest man.
- 2 times North America’s strongest man.
- 4-time World Muscle Power Champion.
Through his strongman career, his international professional athletic career and his entrepreneurial success, Hugo demonstrates that success depends on oneself and one’s own will to act!

ENTREPRENEUR
An entrepreneur at heart, Hugo Girard is also the owner of several businesses. These include the Hugo Girard Sans Limite podcast, where he welcomes guests from a wide range of backgrounds for candid, no-holds-barred conversations; Hugo Strong, a brand offering comfortable, durable and innovative workwear designed to meet the needs of today’s workers and athletes; and AMQ Première, a butcher shop and fish market specializing in premium-quality frozen products delivered straight to your door.
He is also a partner of several companies, including Distillerie Québec North Shore and Intimura.
Projects and challenges constantly on his mind
Hugo Girard is also a Quebec-wide speaker on motivation and occupational health and safety for businesses. He is also a spokesperson for BMR, Cordero and Quebec North Shore Distillery.
And the projects continue, such as the release of his books L’Iceberg, recounting his exceptional career, and Et comme j’ai peur de rien, recounting the behind-the-scenes story of the À vos Risques et périls series.
For several years now, he has been perfecting his playing skills through various training courses, always ready to take on new challenges.
He is also the spokesperson for several companies, including Cordero, Kubota, La Bittt à Tibi, Prestige Bois Rond and Groupe Belleflamme.
His journey, lifestyle, and achievements are based on two key words: work and discipline
Despite all the visibility afforded by the many titles he has won over the course of his career, the most important thing for him remains the invisible, the day-to-day efforts and determination, because one day you realize that these are what make the greatest feats.
